Sustainability Committee

The Buckman Sustainability Committee undertakes projects to promote sustainable practices in our neighborhood. As part of our work:
  • The Committee maintains a community composting site and traffic circle painting at SE 15th and Alder.
  • The Committee manages small garden plots in the "Picture a Garden" project.
  • The first week in December, the BCA partners with Friends of Trees to plant street and yard trees in the Buckman and surrounding neighborhoods.
  • We organize regular cleanup events for our parks at Washington High School, Colonel Summers, and Buckman Elementary.
  • We participate in surveys for historical resources and neigbhorhood tree inventories.
Work parties, potlucks, and events are announced via the Committee's Google Groups e-mail list. For more information or to join the Google Group list, write to the BCA at [email protected] and we'll get you connected.
